October's foodie events to book
From the annual food festival in beautiful Aldebrugh, to drinking Ruinart champagne throughout a 'Reveal the Invisible' meal at 108 Garage and tasting the best oysters – go with the flow this Autumn
Whitstable is the most charming seaside town even when there isn't an 'R' in month, and besides, rock oysters grow all year round. Combining the two delights into a new festival, Whitfood (coming into its 2nd year) is an inspired idea and the line-up is tremendously alluring for all foodies
Guests will include Stephen Harrison, of the absurdly hard to book The Sportsman, cooking up a four course evening feast with fellow local chefs at Wheelers on Friday 4th October. The fun will commence with Wheeler's head chef preparing devilled scallops at a beach hut before returning to the restaurant for the rest of the feast. Chantelle Nicholson from London's Tredwells restaurant will demo from her new vegan book: Planted.
Authors speaking include: Lucie Carlingham of The Happy Empire: the British quest for food and fortune, and Charles Pye-Smith of Land of Plenty: a journey through the fields and food of Britain.
