Kickstarting the series is the inaugural event, The Future of the Post-Truth World. This debate will explore the ever-increasing subjectivity of truth in a world of contradictory perspectives. The speakers will address how 'post-truth' has become a defining term of our age, beginning with a thorough examination of the deceitful politics that launched a thousand fraudulent headlines. Is social networking a hindrance or help to democracy? Will the digital revolution be televised?
Go deeper into uncovering uncomfortable cultural truths with their subsequent event, The Self and Selfie. Taking place on 6 March, this talk will turn The Store at 180 The Strand into a classroom to continue your cultural education. Tackling narcissism and creativity in Generation Selfie, this event will analyse the impact of self-obsession on personal and sociological levels.
Food, Facts and Fantasy will conclude the talk triptych. The debate will challenge the need to radically rethink our relationship with natural resources. Should we change how we eat to change the course of history? Or is it the fate of humanity to continuously press 'snooze' on the Doomsday Clock until it's too late?
The Institute of Art and Ideas promises to deliver drinks, DJ sets, and leading thinkers engaged in radical debates. Be sure to book your tickets to these discussions well in advance to avoid disappointment!
