These are the UK's most foodie restaurant destinations
How far would you travel for dinner?
Chef Michael Caines MBE has retained his Michelin star for 18 years continuously and is clearly in his element in Lympstone Manor, his own hotel. Caines exquisite and technically perfect cooking is better than ever.
Lympstone Manor is an elegant Georgian villa with verandah, breathtaking views of its own new vineyard and the River Exe estuary. The ultra-luxurious contemporary rooms are all named after local flowers. Caines' cooking is always dazzling and makes use of the very best of local produce including Exmoor caviar!
Caines has just created his own, limited edition gin with local distillery Salcombe Gin. His 'Voyager' gin has a distinctive lemon thyme flavour profile and makes a brilliant cocktail with champagne and apple. Gin fiend guests can enrol for a class in distilling their very own gin at Salcombe Gin's Gin School close to the hotel.
The £135 Estuary menu includes Cornish mackerel with gooseberry relish and English mustard sauce. Brixham turbot with scallop, mussels, clams and basil butter sauce
For an extra special gastronomic splurge: on Sept 4 Michael Caines will be hosting dinner and personally introducing every dish of an eight course menu, each matched with the sommelier's favourite wines.
