These are the UK's most foodie restaurant destinations
How far would you travel for dinner?
Sat Bains is a truly creative, happy chef constantly striving for even greater gastronomic enlightenment – and it shows in his thought-provoking, idiosyncratic cooking that is guaranteed to make you smile. Think the best treacle bread you've ever tasted, but don't eat too much of it. Scallops, sweet and charred with end of the summer BBQ, riffs on nostalgia and utter deliciousness.
It's probably the best value two Michelin star dining in the UK. £215 for seven courses with wine matches from the sommelier, plus an overnight stay in an indulgently luxurious room with superb breakfast. The welcome is exceptionally warm too; usually from Amanda, Sat's wife and business partner and restaurant manager Jordi, who's recently joined from the legendary Roux Brothers' Waterside Inn, which speaks volumes of Sat's standing in the restaurant industry.
