The London Design Festival districts you simply have to visit
LDF 2017 is finally upon us: the biggest design event of the year, where London shines as the design capital of the world. Every year it's a thrill, but it's also fairly overwhelming.
There are hundreds upon hundreds of events to choose between all happening within the nine official districts over the capital: Brompton, Chelsea, Islington, Clerkenwell, Shoreditch, Brixton, Mayfair, Pimlico Road and Bankside.
While the major highlights are a must, there are a great many smaller local events too that shouldn't be missed. Click through our gallery for your essential guide to each LDF district
Mayfair Design District, a fellow LDF newcomer, will bring the cultural landscape of Mayfair to life with a diverse programme of free activities, talks, exhibitions and guided walking tours.
While nosing into Mayfair's contemporary art galleries – David Zwirner and Pace Gallery are firm Culture Whisper favourites – is a great way to while away a couple of hours, there are a number of official LDF events worth making a beeline for.
The architect & Interior Designers' Breakfast at bulthaup (21 Sept 8.30am - 10.30pm) is a good one to get you started. Super high-end Kitchen designer bulthaup is inviting Architects and Interior Designers to join them for a special breakfast, prepared by Gaggenau's top home economist (as they put it) at their Mayfair flagship.
During the breakfast the showroom will be closed to the public, so you can experiment with their new range comprising of sleek tables, benches and freestanding units – all impeccably designed by Solitare. Click here for more information and to book a ticket.
If sprucing up your interiors is more the order of the day, see new talent at Carpenters Workshop Gallery, call by Galerie Kreo to see new work by Dutch designer Hella Jongerius, or pop into David Gill Gallery to see Intuitive Gestures, a ground-breaking body of work by avant-garde British design duo Fredrikson Stallard.
