The London Design Festival districts you simply have to visit
LDF 2017 is finally upon us: the biggest design event of the year, where London shines as the design capital of the world. Every year it's a thrill, but it's also fairly overwhelming.
There are hundreds upon hundreds of events to choose between all happening within the nine official districts over the capital: Brompton, Chelsea, Islington, Clerkenwell, Shoreditch, Brixton, Mayfair, Pimlico Road and Bankside.
While the major highlights are a must, there are a great many smaller local events too that shouldn't be missed. Click through our gallery for your essential guide to each LDF district
Only a stone's throw from veteran LDF member, Chelsea Deisgn Quarter, the Pimlico Road is one of this year's two new festival joiners. While the Pimlico Road has long been frequented by design connoisseurs in search of sleek new interiors, high-end mirrors, and mouth-wateringly expensive bathroom fittings, its trendier North London competitors have somewhat overshadowed the area in recent years.
David Linley, Pinch, Rose Uniacke and Jamb are just some of the upmarket dealers throwing open their doors to 2017's Festival goers. It's worth heading straight to the above, as all are hosting special LDF events, workshops, and exhibitions.
If you fancy a little more hand holding, The Pimlico Road Breakfast Series (in collaboration with Country and Town House) would be a great way to get to know the designers, creative directors and interior experts in the area. The series runs from 16 - 23 Sept and tickets cost £10. Book a ticket here.
While the Pimlico Road over-brims with interiors retailers, the number of foodie hotspots has also multiplied in recent years. No. 11 Pimlico Road, is a lively, all-day dining spot where you can roll up first thing for breakfast, linger over brunch and lunch or nip in for a nightcap. The food is a notch above what you'd expect, and would be a great spot to refuel between local talks or workshops.
