The best London restaurants from the year so far
The London restaurant scene shows no sign of slowing down. Big name chefs and restaurants from all over the world have their eyes on us.
The places that are serving up the most interesting and inventive food in town right now are not only the high-end, glamour places, though we love Ella Canta, Jean-Georges Restaurant at The Berkeley and ultra-hip The Cub. Small, quirkier finds giving British ingredients the global treatment are thrilling us too.
Here are eight
essential places to try: a mix of those still under the radar and those where
booking well in advance is essential.
In a nutshell: Flying the flag for delicious fresh Welsh produce – the
cockle popcorn with laverbread is insanely moreish
Without being gimmicky, this former Masterchef Professional finalist, Tom Simmons is cleverly mixing Welsh ingredients with French finesse.
Quietly assured, he has produced some of the finest dishes we’ve tried this year. We'd highly recommend the whipped leek butter, pig’s head croquettes, short rib of beef with ethereal potato puree and roast shallots, and for pud the sublime custard tart. He is clearly a talent to watch.
