The best London restaurants from the year so far
The London restaurant scene shows no sign of slowing down. Big name chefs and restaurants from all over the world have their eyes on us.
The places that are serving up the most interesting and inventive food in town right now are not only the high-end, glamour places, though we love Ella Canta, Jean-Georges Restaurant at The Berkeley and ultra-hip The Cub. Small, quirkier finds giving British ingredients the global treatment are thrilling us too.
Here are eight
essential places to try: a mix of those still under the radar and those where
booking well in advance is essential.
In a nutshell: East London style
British seasonal food at informal West End address
Bringing East-End inventiveness to just off Oxford Street, this restaurant has pedigree with chefs from Harwood Arms and Anglo. Given Neo Bistro recently won the Young British Foodie’s Restaurant of the Year, it's up there with the big hitters.
Order the tasting menu for the full experience with unusual combinations like Herdwick lamb, eel and turnip. The hay-baked potatoes with mushroom butter are a must, and the melting chocolate fondant is possibly the best we've ever tried.
Price: Dinner for two with drinks: £100.00
