The women shaking up the drinks industry
Women have better palates according to countless studies backed up by wine high priestess Jancis Robinson MW. So no wonder we’re challenging for supremacy in every area of the drinks business from whisky, sherry and mezcal to the most innovative alcohol-free libations.
Known as the‘rebel' whisky brand, Craigellachie are rare in having a female Malt Master Stephanie Macleod.
Macleod and Global Brand Amsbassador Georgia Bell have devised an unprecendented plan to bring rare whisky to a wider and more female-centric audience.
They are releasing a new 51-year-old whisky and instead of selling bottles – which would probably achive upwards of £1500 a bottle at auction – they are sampling it for free at Bar 51m their Pop-Up behind Milroy's of Soho 26-28 November. Gemma will be hosting tutored tastings including other vintage single malts.
Tickets are by lottery which closes Monday 19 November. Whisky fans can register here for a chance to visit Bar 51. Entries will close at midnight on Monday 19th November, after which lucky individuals will be chosen at random to visit Bar 51 for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
How will this vintage whisky taste? Macleod Explains: '51 years encased in oak is an exceptional lenght of time. Over five decades, the liquid has developed a softer side yet still retains the distinct umami note that Craigellachie is known for.'
