Christmas foodie events to book in London
Christmas is synonymous with food and feasting, but who wants to start the crackers and turkey too soon? We'd rather be making snaps, taking saunas, getting all pre-Revolutionary Russian with, or skating on top of a carpark with fondue at the ready. Here's our guide to where to have the most luxe and unusual festive foodie fun without the t-word (unless it is tikka style).
Brockwell Lido Cafe
Cossies are not de rigeur. Enjoy the Art Deco Grade II listed lido in the middle of Brockwell Park from the cosy confines of the cafe. For the hardy, there's the option to venture out onto the heated terrace for post-dinner hot buttered rum or malted Irish coffee.
Indoors dive in with a ginger and quince martini before tucking into a veritable feast. Slow-roasted roasted pork belly with crackling and medlar jam, whole roast acorn squash with whipped apple sweet potato stuffing and pecan pie with brandy creme fraiche make an impressive splash.
We hear rumours that the Lido's sauna will be open for pre-prandial sessions. A steamy evening.
