Best Japanese eating in London

Mitsuhiro Araki was awarded 3 stars in the latest Michelin London guide, and it is the smallest UK restaurant to have this distinction. There are only 9 seats at the bar in this exclusive Mayfair sushi haunt, allegedly a favourite of David Beckham.

Meticulously traditional, all diners are served a fixed menu of Edomae sushi by Mr Araki himself in the style of a Japanese tea ceremony. Those that have experienced this most bespoke of Japanese experiences in London assure us that it is sublime.

Endearingly, Mr Araki gave up his former 3 star sushi restaurant in Tokyo to set up in London as he wanted to school his daughter in the UK.
