The best food centric cafes in London
Hidden away within the LASSCO architectural salvage by Maltby Street market, this bohemian cafe furnished with antique lighting and lots of fabrics is a real gem. It feels rather like hiding away in Aladdin's den.
At weekends, Lasso serve an egg-centric menu: baked eggs with cavelo nero; potato cakes with spinach, baked tomato and fried eggs; as well as fantastic cocktails. My rum sour made with 3 year aged Havana, bay leaf infused quince syrup, lemon and egg white was superb.
Dinner is served Thursday-Sunday with live jazz Thursday evenings and a more adventurous menu that uses ingredients from local producers at Spa Terminus. Booking is essential in the evenings.
