And so it begins: Secret Cinema X is returning to London for six events only this April, with a yet unreleased secret film in a secret location.
Secret Cinema has taken the world of immersive experiences by storm since it launched in 2007, inviting guests to dress up and dive into a 360-degree participatory world designed to reflect the film. Expect music, dancing, costumes and trouble.
Although it's all very hush hush, you may have heard of another Secret Cinema event currently running somewhere in the city – Moulin Rouge – which sold out almost instantly.
Secret Cinema X is a little bit edgier than the usual Secret Cinema events. Previous Secret Cinema X worlds include Asif Kapadia's moving documentary Amy at Koko Camden, Sebastian Schipper's Victoria at the Ministry of Sound and Michael Curtiz's Casablanca in Limehouse.
So far, all we've been told to expect is that 'Exploring vivid, enigmatic landscapes ripe with intrigue and coded messages, you will become part of a world that blossoms like a delicate flower to reveal a clandestine, unforgettable experience.'
If we were betting people, we'd suggest that the theme of this year's Secret Cinema X might just have something to do with the great Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, from whom the quote about spring derives. Could it be that this year's film will be the 2016 biopic Neruda? We'll just have to wait to find out.
