The most central location is Regent's Park, where Luna Cinema has three films showing as part of the Open Air Theatre programme. Make the most of balmy summer evenings with a couple of friends, a couple of drinks, and a choice of three films to see: La La Land (27 August), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (3 September) and The Graduate (10 September).
La La Land (2016), widely regarded as one of last year's best films, stars Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling as an aspiring actress and musician who are drawn to each other through their common desire to do what they love. Praised for Damien Chazelle's screenplay and direction, and for its memorable musical numbers (among other things), the film received a leading six – almost seven! – Oscars at the 89th Academy Awards, and won all seven of its nominations at the 74th Golden Globe Awards. We think it's great too: read our five top reasons to watch La La Land.
But there are far more films to be seen at a range of set-piece grand venues including Westminster Abbey, Kew Gardens and Alexandra Palace: with everything from Jaws and Jurassic Park to Moulin Rouge and Mamma Mia being screened, you're likely to find a movie for you.
Pay from £16.50 to £19 for general tickets. At the Regent's Park venue, £31.50 will get you a a VIP ticket that includes a pre-screening reception with either a cocktail or glass of champagne, a good seat, and a fleece blanket; at other venues, Premium tickets (including a drink, a good seat, and fast-track queuing) are available at a similar price.
