The environmental impact of absolutely everything has been considered here – from the brilliant refill station that allows customers to repurpose old containers and purchase shampoo and conditioner by weight, to the foil alternative (made from recycled paper) used for colouring hair.
Customer capes will biodegrade within weeks, some of the salon’s surfaces are crafted from recycled yogurt pots and even the hand sanitiser is formulated in-house. You can also pick up eco-friendly favourites like Haeckels skincare and Earl of East London candles.
Cloud Twelve

USP: Cloud Twelve is perfect for those wanting to put sustainability at the heart of their beauty routine, but don’t want to compromise on the soul-tingling luxury of a day at the spa.
The wellness and lifestyle club, nestled in the heart of Notting Hill, has an impressively extensive treatment menu and a delicious brasserie offering a plant-based menu. All their treatments use organic, natural products and both the spa and salon aim to be 99% paperless.
Our treatment pick is the Signature Deep Relief CBD Oil Massage, which uses organic and superior grade CBD oil to deeply soothe aching muscles and relieve niggling stress and anxiety.

The dyes and treatments on offer here are created on site using only 100% natural herbs, flowers, roots and plants. No chemicals, parabens, carcinogens or synthetic fragrances can be found within these walls.
Not only is this kinder on our hair (and the planet), but also makes the salon’s treatments suitable for those who are pregnant, undergoing chemotherapy or have very sensitive skin. We also highly recommend their fantastic blow-dries – request owner Gennaro himself for a truly knock-out blow-out.
Ena Salon

USP: Salons simply don’t get much prettier than this. Luxury and sustainability live side by side in this incredible Grade-II listed Georgian townhouse. Spread over four floors, Ena boasts original panelling and stained-glass windows.
Wherever possible, furniture is upcycled and any new equipment is carefully selected to stand the test of time. There’s a plant collection here that frankly a garden centre would be envious of.
Products stocked are by Italian brand Davines who have placed sustainability at the heart of their ethos. Their nourishing shampoo bars should be at the top of one’s shopping list.
Lisa Franklin Clinic Privé

USP: Lisa Franklin’s list of sustainability credentials is quite something to behold.
The aesthetic clinic and skincare brand has a coveted Positive Luxury Butterfly Mark – an indicator of their commitment to environmental causes.
They are forest-positive, meaning trees are planted to counteract their production of packaging. All products are cruelty free; materials are sustainable and packaging recyclable.
Single-use plastic simply has no place here. But it’s the skilful facials that really put the clinic on the map. Plump for a bespoke facial with Lisa herself for an incredible blend of techniques that’ll breathe life into the most tired of complexions.
Glasshouse Salon

USP: Slicker than your average hair salon, Glasshouse is a seriously modern establishment with a 360° approach to sustainability. Focussing on the long-term health of your hair, harsh chemicals are eschewed in favour of natural products.
There’s a £1 ‘green fee’ on all bills which contributes directly to recycling notoriously wasteful salon by-products, such as colour waste (used to generate electricity) and hair itself (used to stop oil spills).

Blue Tit

Everyone’s head is wrapped up post-wash in a biodegradable towel before being whisked off to the stylist’s chair. Blue Tit is perfect for those who prefer sharp, fuss-free cuts, but we recommend sticking around for the indulgent treatments, courtesy of innovative organic brand Oway.
