Aside from offering items dating back millennia, Masterpiece also attracts the biggest names in contemporary art. 2017 saw the launch of a new exhibition space at the fair’s entrance, which last year housed a new work by Marina Abramović. This year, Phyllida Barlow will create an immersive installation comprising of her pom pom works. Other highlights will include a solo booth dedicated to the Italian abstract artist Bice Lazzari and Blain|Southern's presentation of work by Mexican artist Bosco Sodi. For fans of antiquity, Edward Hurst is exhibiting a substantial section of mosaic from the Roman villa at Dewlish in Dorset, a rare example of Romano-British history.
Even if you are not looking to buy, Masterpiece is the perfect place to browse, mingle, and sample the best restaurants that London has to offer, including La Caprice and the The Ivy. Perrier-Jouët will also be hosting a champagne terrace, which this year is designed by Bethan Laura Wood. Her interactive 'hypernature' piece will immerse those enjoying a glass of bubbly in a colourful environment inspired by Perrier-Jouët's connection to Art Nouveau. Guests will have the opportunity to taste the iconic Belle Epoque cuvées alongside Blanc de Blancs NV and Blason Rosé.
