As they launch a yearlong run as Roundhouse Associate Artists, Global Voices provide audiences with the rare opportunity to see excerpts of plays by Latinx writers which have never before staged in the UK. The programme has been curated by Malú Ansaldo, Head of Performing Arts at the Roundhouse, and features translations of: Mariano Tenconi Blanco’s The Extraordinary Life; Carla Zuñiga’s The S.A.D Summers of Princess Diana; Sebastián Eddowes’ The Ranch of the Lost Boys; Juan Aguilera Justiniano’s La Jana and Xavier Villanova’s Nezahualcóyotl Dreams en Mictlan York. The readings are being followed by a post-performance conversation featuring special guests.

Losing the Night
20 – 22 November | 7:45PM – 9:05PM
Cecilia Knapp’s Losing the Night fuses humour with delicate storytelling to explore the mental health crisis in the UK and the reality of bereavement following suicide. The play’s focus is two young friends, Liam and Mitch, who haven’t seen each other since they lost their ally Dylan. Trapped in a pub during a dead shift, they find themselves digging deep into the past to unearth the truth about what happened. The play returns to the Roundhouse this autumn, following its sell-out premiere there as part of the Last Word festival.

Ruins
30 November | 7:30PM – 8:30PM
An interdisciplinary project combining live performance, film and photography, Ruins by the London-based group, FUBUNATION, looks to open a dialogue surrounding the myth of masculinity as experienced within the Pan-African diaspora. Ruins won 'The Conny Janssen Danst Award 2019’ and is self-described by the company as: ‘a testimony of the generational trauma inherited by men from marginalised groups with the mission of creating a space where the black male figure is more visible and honestly represented in its full complexity.’ The production takes place across three spaces at the Roundhouse, between which audiences experience a series of recorded and live performances.
