The best date restaurants in London
What makes a restaurant romantic? Of course, it depends on who you’re asking. Candles, cosy alcoves, the right music and, of course, delectable food are a good start. What about open fires, stunning views and even aphrodisiacs?
Here's our pick of the city’s most romantic restaurants so you can decide for yourself.
Blanchette Brick Lane
Belle Epoque meets hipster East London. If anyone knows how to do romance right, it is surely the French. Blanchette Brick Lane is East London’s answer to a Parisian bistro served in an intimate bare-brick candle-lit room full of marché aux puces bricolage. There’s a sexy French menu that winks affectionately at North Africa and sharing is encouraged, which makes it perfect for dates. One of the owners is also the founder of sound production company La Musique du Faubourg, so expect great music. Note too, it is impossible to miss the reclining female nude painting gazing out from behind the bar with a knowing smile and there are more frolicking nudes in the washrooms as well. Just saying.....
