The best London restaurants from the year so far
The London restaurant scene shows no sign of slowing down. Big name chefs and restaurants from all over the world have their eyes on us.
The places that are serving up the most interesting and inventive food in town right now are not only the high-end, glamour places, though we love Ella Canta, Jean-Georges Restaurant at The Berkeley and ultra-hip The Cub. Small, quirkier finds giving British ingredients the global treatment are thrilling us too.
Here are eight
essential places to try: a mix of those still under the radar and those where
booking well in advance is essential.
In a nutshell: Cosy, feel-good restaurant where British ingredients sing
Led by two female chefs from Chelsea favourite Medlar, Lupin is sophisticated yet simply delivered. Think British with a twist: Tempura spring onions, Sea bass ceviche and chipotle roasted pigeon with charred baby gem.
The wine list, mostly natural, organic, biodynamic is excellent and fairly priced.
We preferred seats at the kitchen pass to the tiny pink upstairs room. This little place will be big – get in while you can.
Price: Dinner for two with drinks £80.00
