Eastenders star Samantha Womack leads the stage adaptation as Rachel, the titular girl who spends her lonely commutes looking out of the window observing the houses that back on to the railway. She attempts to escape her own live by fantising about the perfect couple she watches in daily snippets and numbing reality with gin sipped from an Evian bottle. But when the woman she has been watching goes missing, Rachel gets sucked into the mystery.
Unlike the film version, which relocates The Girl on the Train to America, the stage adaptation stays true to the book's suburban claustrophobia and steamed-up window commuter train aesthetic.
