Recently it seems that the arts are fervently responding to the question of what Artificial Intelligence will mean for the fate of humanity. At once beautiful and terrifying, the wondrous possibilities of AI seem endless, but the fear of intelligent machines making humans redundant always lurks in the shadows. Now theatre is engaging in this debate. Devised theatre and musical ensemble Little Bulb is using the stage to tackle technological existentialism with their new production, The Future.
A band of scientists ruminate over the implications of AI and invite audience members to consider a future in the aftermath of 'an intelligence explosion'. As well as giving your brain a rigorous workout, this music-filled production will also delight the senses with 60 minutes of lyrical feats and mind-bending futurology discussions that address philosophical questions in a wholly different way.
Director Alexander Scott helmed the success of Little Bulb's production Orpheus, a take on the Orpheus and Eurydice myth, and no doubt will bring the same originality and musical virtuoso to The Future.
