On March 31, McEwan is due to speak at London’s Royal Institute. In a talk entitled ‘Examining the Self,’ he’ll take a critical look at the ways in which our ideas of selfhood have changed over the course of history. Expect much erudition with everything from Homeric verse to cutting edge neuroscience coming under scrutiny.
The event is one of the Royal Institution’s Discourses, a tradition which dates back to 1825, and to which many guests choose to wear smart evening dress. This isn’t required but it’s a certainly a nice excuse to dress up.
Drinks reception begins at 18:30 and the talk at 19:50
