It’s fair to say that Hatoum isn’t the most high profile of contemporary artist. She’s not exactly what you’d term a self-publicist, having expressed a dislike of interviews. But she’s an art world favourite, with the backing of behemoth gallerists White Cube.
As her first major UK survey comes to the Tate Modern this May, her art is finally set to reach a wider audience. With a career spanning four decades, there’s much to discover. Hear from the artist herself when she comes to the museum’s Starr Auditorium on May 10.
