We love any excuse to introduce the next-gen to the great literary classics, and seeing one onstage, in musical form, tends to be the best way to do it.
Luckily for Frances Hodgson Burnett fans, The Secret Garden is kicking off the Easter holidays with two performances at the London Palladium on April 4 - with an epic cast including Waitress' Lucie Jones as Martha, & Juliet's Melanie La Barrie as Mrs. Medlock, Sarah Bakker as Rose, Dreamgirls' Adam J. Bernard as Ben, Ramin Karimloo as Archibald Craven and Jac Yarrow as Dickon.
With music by Lucy Simon and book and lyrics by Pulitzer-Prize winning playwright, Marsha Norman, The Secret Garden is directed by Nick Winston and tells the story of poor orphan Mary Lennox, who arrives from India to live with her uncle, where she meets new friends, and blossoms along with the garden she discovers.
We can't think of a better way to kick off the Easter hols - and spring.
After all, as Burnett wrote: "If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden."
