The cast for Wembley Arena's 2016 pantomime certainly has the X Factor (starring Mel B as the wicked Queen and Rylan Clark as her henchman), and from looking at the rest of the leading cast, it seems they were looking for Strictly just reality TV stars, with dancers Vincent and Flavia also playing Snow White's parents.
Mel B opens the modern adaptation, standing alongside a 45 foot castle, accompanied by a flock of skaters and a band marching through the wintery scene. From there, the story of sweet, innocent Snow White commences as the evil Queen enrols her henchman to lure Snow White into her evil clasp.
The spectacle continues to develop as the show goes on, with a dramatic performance from aerialists set above a 24 feet water fountain, seven acrobatic, and extremely agile dwarves befriending the princess, an indoor blizzard with raging snow encircling the entire arena to a majestic forest full of Beatrix Potter inspired fluffy animals. It's fair to say, this performance will have quite the production value.
Join Snow White as she journeys through fire storms, magical forests and unknown territories in an attempt to avoid the Queen's evil curse. Will the sweet princess be able to compete with her powerful magic?
If you're looking for a way to extend the festive cheer just a bit longer for your little ones, this spectacular, high-energy performance could just be the ticket. Not to worry though, despite the extensive modern twists, you can still expect the odd pantomime classic of 'he's behind you!' too. Phew.
