The Charing Cross Theatre invites you to learn of the development of Braille, the international touch-language for the sightless and vision-impaired, in this musical telling of its inventor's life. Tracing the hardships of young, blind Louis Braille at the hands of Monsieur Dufau, who presides over the Royal Institute of Blind Youth with an iron fist, you are taken back to 19th-century France and the struggle to improve lives through developing and refining new technology.
Exploring themes of accessibility, The Braille Legacy shows Braille's struggles to overcome institutionalised discrimination and pioneer the tactile writing system, sharing the joy of reading for generations to come.
