It wasn’t until the late seventies however that Faithfull realized her full musical potential. Broken English marked a major departure from what had come before. There were few traces of ‘60s pop here. The album was assuredly post-punk, with everything from outlaw Americana to Shakespearean tragedy condensed into ice-cold new wave ballads.
2014 saw Faithfull mark her fifty year musical anniversary. Half a century after her first single, she released Give My Love to London: an alternately raucous and mournful collection, full of husky vocals and tough, emotive lyricism.
On February 2nd, Faithfull comes to the Roundhouse as part of the venerable institution's ‘In the Round' series. She is a captivating musician and a true icon. Don’t miss your chance to get tickets.
