Fresh faced, Oxbridge upstarts Clean Bandit have a canny trick. Originally playing together as a string quartet, these chart-toppers layer thinly sliced cuts of Mozart and Rachmaninov over puffed pop melodies and hands-free dance music. Clever pop music! Get it?
It works a charm: they produce hit-after-hit of first class chart-fodder. In 2014 we had the inescapable Rather Be, and this summer they lulled us to sleep with Rockabye, teaming up with Sean Paul, rather curiously. Now we have their latest single – ahem – Symphony.
It’s another synth-toting stormer, with wipe-clean vocals from Zara Larsson – and we’re not ashamed to say that we really, really love it.
