The restaurant suits the Selfridges shopper by serving all day long, and seasoned eaters here will recognise the array of dining styles available, so no one's overlooked whether you're grazing on small plates or having a hearty dinner.
Deliciously LA, the design incorporates a boardwalk from the lift to the restaurant, then worn timber beams, masses of foliage, palm trees and parquet floor tiling below wicker low-hanging lamps.
In keeping with the West Coast theme, the open kitchen has light and healthy food in abundance, and dishes feature unusual talking point ingredients with high nutritional value to impress switched-on diners.
Small plates include tuna ceviche, kohlrabi, avocado, cilantro and bonito flakes, almond and nigella seed hummus, seasonal vegetables, flat bread and black kale, chicory, scorched feta and honey mustard dressing. Mains include the heartier charred monkfish with summer vegetable freekeh and habanero dressing, and free-range chicken with heritage tomatoes, fennel, capers and olives.
There's outdoors seating on the small terrace, and all-weather transparent roofing if it rains, so reservationists need not panic. Cocktails are inspired by California's famous love for health-kick juices, and feature ingredients such as green cucumber, and reimagined classics – a G&T with cinnamon, and cherry blossom-infused gin.
