The next generation female chefs to know in London
Hot on the heels of Clare Smyth (of Core by Clare Smyth) being announced The World's Best Female Chef 2018, here are 15 more women in London's kitchens to visit now
Asma Khan's Darjeeling Express started out as a supper club at the fiercely articulate, constitutional lawyer's home where everyone left wonderfully replete and with new friends. Residences and rave reviews followed and the offer of a restaurant within buzzy Kingly Court. It's a beautiful, calming, welcoming restaurant where Asma and her all female team are home trained cooks.
The seductive spicing is what makes Darjeeling Express such a treat. Order puchkas to drench in tamarind water, brilliant bouncy Indo-Chinese chilli prawns, lamb samosas, venison kofta, black lentil dhal – all are homely and lovingly cooked with flavour. Don't miss the carrot halwa or Masala chai. Book well ahead for Asma's Sunday lunch special biriyani made in traditional, long, slow authentic manner.
Such has been Asma's success, she has been invited to open Calcutta Canteen in Market Halls in the beautifully tiled former Fulham Broadway tube station next weekend.
Price: £80.00 for two including drinks
