New Camino Tapas restaurant Bankside promises to be their restaurant that most resembles a typical Spanish tapas bar: a competitor for one of the best Spanish restaurants in London for authenticity. If you're wondering where to eat in London Waterloo: restaurants in the area have a cheery new Spaniard among their number.
Spanish Tapas London: one of the more authentically Spanish places to eat in Waterloo
In Camino’s fourth restaurant the focus will be on casual drinking and eating, with an open kitchen and a jamón counter, where diners can sit and enjoy the carving of the famed cured Spanish meat. In a busy working district it should be the perfect place to enjoy a beer and a tapa after work, or to sit down to dinner in an upstairs area overlooking the lower floor.
On the menu
The menu will include dishes such as steak cooked on a plancha, on a type of giant grill, as well as traditional tapas fare such as Chorizo and Tortilla de Patata (Spanish potato omelette). Other dishes with include their take on the popular Spanish dish pulpo, whole octopus tentacles roasted with purple potatoes, olive oil and paprika, and, for at least 8 people to share, a whole roasted suckling pig, which is slow cooked over 48 hours with white wine, onions, garlic and herbs.
At the bar
The bar will serve Spanish craft beers, available in a 2/3 pint glass, similar to the size drunk in local Spanish bars, as well as the large selection of Spanish wines on offer at the other Camino branches.
