With so much street food in London to choose from, it's worth taking a look at the growing number of permanent residencies and new restaurants in London on offer. Our own Lone Star Ranger, Joe Walters, first came to the public’s attention last year on Dragon’s Den, when the Stetson-styled entrepreneur stirred a bidding frenzy between the Dragons and won a £50,000 investment deal from Peter Jones for a stake in his fledgling beef jerky business. Although the tycoon later pulled out of the deal, this did not stop Joe from going from strength to strength; not only expanding his brand to include lines of barbecue sauces, hot dogs and root beer, Joe also set up his own pop-up restaurant; with a residency in Kentish Town's Grafton a Texas-style barbecue with slow and low cooked meat over aged oak. Serving brisket, pork, hot links and ribs (both straight up and in sandwiches), a good solution to inevitable indecision when contemplating the extensive menu is The Sampler platter, a steaming heap of all four meat options, served with beans, slaw and sauce. Burgers are also available and include the Texas Burger: prime beef blended with onions and jalapenos, and topped with cheese (although, in true Texan style, for a few pounds extra chilli, pork, brisket and hot links can be thrown into the mix). If the meat sweats are yet to set in, be sure to sneak in a side of smoked chicken wings, Texas nachos, or chilli mac and cheese.
Joe's BBQ is set to be among the most mouth-watering places to eat in London in the coming winter months.
