Inspired by Victoria politician and historian Thomas Babbington-Macauley’s sentiment, ‘Dinner parties are mere formalities. You invite a man to dinner because you must invite him; because you are acquainted with his grandfather, or it is proper you should; but you invite a man to breakfast because you want to see him’, Breakfast With Charles celebrates the delights of a meal that is often sacrificed for more sleep. Breakfast with Charles’s humble beginning was Charlie’s kitchen on Columbia Road, where innovative platters were served at 7am every Thursday to a group of local friends. Now Breakfast at Charles will entertain their guests at the Rooftop Café, providing a three-course tasting brunch menu of reimagined classic dishes, accompanied by breakfast-inspired canapés and a glass of prosecco upon arrival. Expect the likes of Roast Haunch of Fallow Deer with a Root Vegetable Hash, Cavalo Nero and a Current and Cobnut dressing, and Crispy Waffles with Blackberry Ripple Ice Cream and Salted Caramel Apples.
Available at both 11:30am and 2:30pm
