As part of the wonderful Rendez-Vous with French Cinema festival this year, the Curzon Soho is offering a selection of special showings of French films, accompanied by panel conversations with some of the people involved in their creation.
Our pick of these is the UK premiere of Roman Polanski’s erotic comedy Venus in Fur on the 26 of April. This intoxicatingly saucy, psychological film, based on the Tony winning play by American playwright David Ives, was an official selection at the Cannes Film Festival 2013, and lives up to this accolade. In one room, over one day, a theatre director auditions actresses for a role. The last to arrive, Vanda, draws him into a world of sexual subversion and off-stage role play.
Attendees will have the chance to quiz Polanski’s wife, the beautiful Emmanuelle Seigner, who you may know from the critically acclaimed The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007), and who stars this, Polanski's most recent feature.
