The film, still untitled, will focus on the murder of Reggiani's ex-husband, taking stock of Sara Gay Forden's book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour and Greed. Gucci left Reggiani for another woman after 12 years of marriage in 1985, and Reggiani was convicted of his assassination in 1995.
And who could possibly helm such a major story? Ridley Scott, he of Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, will be taking on the task – after recently directing Getty drama All The Money in the World, and after the release of his next historical picture, The Last Duel.
The Gucci role will mark Gaga's first return to acting since she played rising star Ally opposite Bradley Cooper in A Star Is Born, which introduced her as a major dramatic talent to the world, already enamoured with her throughout her pop music career for the past decade.
With a shapeshifting and showstopping appearance as one of the co-hosts at this year's 'Camp' Met Gala, Gaga has already proven her commitment to high-stakes fashion. We can't wait to see where this role takes her.
