Acquaint yourself with these female writers, and you'll make a friend for life in their books
Tragically, many are only hearing of American novelist Ursula K. Le Guin now – she passed away this January. An influence to Salman Rushdie, Neil Gaiman and David Mitchell, as well as a dear friend of Margaret Atwood, her science fiction novels often featured protagonists of colour and minorities as their heroes. Her 1969 work The Left Hand of Darkness is taught in universities to showcase both Sci-Fi and Feminism.
