The Soane's museum is one of the most beautiful hidden gems in London and one of the places I take my friends when they visit. Soane wanted his home to be preserved as it was when he died. If you fancy a trip back to 1837, then this is the place for you. Don't miss a candlelight tour, they are held every first Tuesday of the month.

5) The Tale of Kitty-in-Boots, House of Illustration

I have always been a fan of children's literature. When you re-read the classics as an adult, you realise that these books are for all ages, not only children. I love Beatrix Potter, and she should be celebrated as a famous woman writer at the end of the 19th century. When you adore an author from the past, there's nothing more exciting than an unpublished manuscript!

I spent so many days wandering around the galleries of the Courtauld Institute when I was an Art History student. It stands as one of the most important art collections in the world and a research institute that offers thoroughly exciting talks and exhibitions, like this one. Rodin has managed to capture the essence of dance in his sculptures. Don't miss it!
