The Royal Albert Hall welcomes the Mozart Festival Chorus and Orchestra to the stage for Christmas music by candlelight in full 18th-century costume. They’ll perform seasonal pieces such as Corelli’s Christmas Concerto and Pearsall's In dulci jubilo, plus true period pieces by Handel: Zadok the Priest and the Hallelujah Chorus. There'll be traditional readings by Wombles narrator Bernard Cribbins, and plenty of opportunity for the 5,000-strong audience to add their voices during traditional singalong carols. If you rather the concert was all about you, there's a last-night-of-the-Proms-style singalong concert too, as part of the Royal Albert Halls full Christmas festival programme.
If it wasn't already firmly cemented in everyone's mind as an iconic space, the Royal Albert Hall was just voted Most Prestigious Christmas Venue at the Prestigious Star Awards 2016, beating 2,000 other places. With its December concert list so full, there's plenty of opportunities to see why.
