Ann Christopher, RA

This spring, whilst Renoir, Cezanne, Monet Pissarro, Manet, Sargent, Kandinsky, Van Gogh, Matisse, Klimt and Klee riot downstairs in Painting the Modern Garden, a quieter Royal Academy show is taking place. Upstairs, in the Tennant Gallery, Royal Academician Ann Christopher will present a series of drawings and a single sculpture.

Christopher's work is soothingly understated. Known primarily as a sculptor, she creates precise abstract works, which take their cue from natural forms. Her drawings are similarly hushed; in single lines, Christopher contemplates her surroundings, from urban cityscapes and modern architecture to craggy coastlines, plant structures and ancient relics.

This small exhibition will be a contemplative antidote to the colour and noise downstairs: be sure to drop by.
