This summer Beetles+Huxley stages a powerful exhibition of images by pioneering visual artist, Ruud van Empel. Radical in his painstaking technique and fantastically innovative, van Empel uses photoshop to create dreamlike worlds from fragments of his own photos. His images transform reality in a way that is both enchanting and utterly unique.

Van Empel’s striking pieces comprise hundreds of photographic splinters, meticulously pieced together to create hybrid human forms within curious utopias. Each figure is formed through the careful fusion of “digital body parts”, and the colour and texture of every photo is selected and altered individually. It’s little surprise that a single work can take up to three months to create.
If you’re looking for something a little different in London this summer, don’t miss your chance to explore the bizarre and wonderful world of Ruud van Empel.
