Affordable Art Fair Hampstead: 6 artists causing a stir this year
Spotlighting fresh faces on the cutting-edge contemporary art scene, Affordable Art Fair has made a name for itself as London's pre-eminent fair for discovering new talent.
Following the Affordable Art Fair Hampstead this May, these are the young emerging artists to watch now.
University of Arts graduate Stella Kapezanou explores the 'everyday' habits of people working and living in highly commoditised, capitalistic western cultures. Shunning any sense of the naturalistic in her work, Stella's canvases are bold, brash and overtly satirical of our consumerist tendencies.
She refers to her colourful compositions, with their jarring juxtapositions, as 'playgrounds of fakeness'. In this parallel artistic universe, Stella explores our emotional disconnect from the world around us. Exhibiting in this year's 'Made in Arts' showcase, Stella is a rising star to keep an eye on.
