Thank goodness then, that the arrival of season two is finally here – and that episode one of the new season aired on Sky Atlantic last night. You can catch up with season one on NOWTV.
Rebellion is finally on cards for our cast of characters this season. Thandie Newton (who is making headlines this week for claiming that the #TimesUp movement rejected her on the grounds that she wasn't 'hot enough') can be seen stepping freely over the glass fragments that cascade as bodies fly through walls. Throughout, Dolores' commentary washes over them all: 'this is your world... we can burn this world to the ground and from the ashes build a new world.'
So what can you expect from the first episode? Without giving away any spoilers, all we'll say is prepare to be thrown straight back into this often unnecessarily confusing, and always emotionally exhausting, universe of hosts and humans.
Season two means war – and war means death – so prepare yourself for a truly staggering number of bodies, and gratuitous levels of gore (death, mutilation, brains being removed, that kind of thing) and even more questions to be answered.
What really makes a host different from a man? How many more tricks can the dead Ford be about to play on the current cast? What on earth is Dolores plotting? Will Newton ever stop being the absolute best thing about the show as the kick-ass Maeve on the hunt to find her daughter?
Full of fresh energy, confidence and a surprising good humour, there's plenty to look forward to in season two. Not least the question of how many worlds will be unveiled this season. Bring it on.
