Alright, yes. We're also worried that ITV had made an entire six-part drama just so that they could use some monster word play. The good news is, with a script penned by Stephen Brady and a cast that includes Laura Fraser (Detective Annie Redford) from The Missing and Downton Abbey's Siobhan, starring as DCI Lauren Quigley, we hope it'll be a good show, as well as a weak joke.
Not much is known about the drama, including when it's due to air. But we can tell you, is that it's a crepuscular murder-mystery, set in a bleak Scottish town with a tight-knit community that lives and breaths the local myths and cohabits with some seriously wild natural beauty.
Before you can say 'haggis', the body of a local man Niall Swift is discovered at the foot of the Carn Mohr Mountain, and a human heart is washed up on the loch's shore.
There's a monster, lurking in the deep (see what we did there?), which drags plenty of local characters under suspicion as young local detective Annie Redford struggles to keep a hold on her first murder case.
We've got high-hopes for The Loch which, from the trailer, looks pleasingly inspired by Scandi noir. With a bit of luck it'll also be charming enough to replace our Broadchurch obsession.
