If you're already fans of other PBS dramas such as Call the Midwife or Mr. Selfridge this is the show for you. Set after the Second World War, we meet up again with a group of talented code-breaking women who, in the pervious series fought to return to a semblance of normality following war.
This time, we're in 1956 – 19 years since one of their own was murdered by one of the visiting 'yanks' – and there are still unanswered questions. Jean (Julie Graham) and Millie (Rachael Stirling) take their impressive collective brain power to San Francisco to see whether they can't investigate the death of their friend.
Taking the issues into their own hands, freeing themselves from the patronising condescension of men, the women find themselves allies in two US code breakers who also feel under appreciated and forgotten since the war came to an end.
Think of a kookie, Sherlock style TV show staffed with women – and you get the idea.
The Bletchley Girls airs on Wednesday at 9pm, in competition with BBC's Picnic at Hanging Rock.
