Proving that it isn't only the Scandinavians who know how to do noir, Keeping Faith generated the highest audience tuning into a non-network drama for the BBC in over twenty years with 9.5 million Brits requesting it on iPlayer despite the show airing – alas – only on BBC Wales.
Hurrah then, that the good old Beeb has finally announced that the rest of the UK will get to watch it from the comfort of their sitting rooms as the gripping mystery thriller arrives on the small screen on Thursday 12 July.
It's been the hottest UK show of the year. The eight-part series follows Faith Howles, a yellow mac-wearing solicitor and new mother whose husband and business partner Evan leaves home one day but never makes it to work.
Howles, played by Broadchurch star Eve Myles, is drawn into a world of turmoil as she uncovers a web of secrets whilst investigating her husband’s sudden disappearance. The small Welsh community is shaken, and revelations ensue as a desperate wife becomes determined to find out the truth – eventually questioning how well she knew the man she married.
