Rebecca is more than a little messed up. But something that begins as an outlandish personality quirk quickly turns swiftly into an exposé about serious mental health, without ever loosing it's upbeat enthusiasm for life, and magnificent musical breakouts.
The creative re-mixes of pop classics and serious social edge that Glee always promised, but never quite delivered, are in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend in abundance. Songs about generalising about men, impossible to please mothers and cruel patriarchal beauty regimes are littered throughout a quick and insightful script.
Season three came out on Netflix this year. We're loathed to tell you too much about what you've missed so far. But, if you're looking for your next Netflix binge and haven't seen it yet, we seriously recommend this hilarious, poignant and sometimes troubling musical comedy by Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna.
