With the heatwave comes another chance to cool off in London’s outdoor swimming pools, ponds and lakes. From Hampstead Ponds to Brockwell Park Lido, here's where to swim outside in London this summer.
It's been members only at Hyde Park's Serpentine Lido for the past two years, but summer 2022 promises the return of public swimming slots. Check the website for further details and booking, and if a taster session leaves you serious about stripping off and swimming lengths, buy a membership and join the community at the Serpentine Swimming Club.
The club swims all year round, with no wetsuits permitted even in the winter. Still, there are considerable perks to joining: you’ll have the lake virtually to yourself before 9:30am, and all autumn to enjoy the sun’s last rays even after the lidos close to the public.
