Le Rêve is an oil painting by Spanish painter Pablo Picasso, portraying his 22-year-old mistress Marie-Thérèse Walter. Together for just under ten years, Walter was the subject of many of Picasso's most famous Fauvist portraits.
The sitter's five fingers and the erotic nature of the painting have been commented on frequently by art critics, who have also pointed out that the upturned face of his model resembles an erect penis, presumably symbolising Picasso's own.
