Nina Pop-Up Restaurant
Amidst the huge variety of pop-up events in London, Nina restaurant is a culinary gem.
Nina Restaurant, a Grub Club pop-up that is running once a month in Brixton, will bring you closer to France with a menu that includes butter lettuce with flaked hazelnut salad and a honey-mustard dressing and slow-cooked pork shoulder in peaches with lemon polenta.
And you start the evening with an apple and prosecco aperitif and paprika hummous on pane carasau canapés, then finish off with a banana split with Madagascan vanilla ice cream, dulce de leche sauce and caramelised almonds.
The brains (not to mention culinary flair) behind the event is Nina Parker, a chef inspired by her travels to St Tropez and time spent working in some of the best French restaurants in London, including Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester, L’Anima and Bocca Di Lupo’s Gelupo. 'I make a special effort to create a seasonal, delicious menu using only good quality ingredients,' she says. 'That includes handpicking asparagus from a nearby farm, using garden apples for the cocktail and free-range meat from Provenance butcher in Notting Hill.'
The evening should be a night to remember, you’ll be in the atmospheric Brixton East warehouse, footage of St Tropez played out on the bare brick walls and all accompanied by 50s/60s jazz—what’s an evening out without some good music?
Tickets are £30, but there are only around 40 places and the October event sold out in double-quick time, so be on the ready for the November tickets, which will be announced very soon! If you miss it, you could try and recreate the food, as Parker says most of the recipes are in her new book, Nina St Tropez.
Nina Restaurant is running from now until Saturday February 28th, 2015 in Brixton East. Click here for more information and to book.
