The South Bank (15 June), Streatham (13 July), Kingston-upon-Thames (20 July), Greenwich (17 August), Whitechapel (24 August) and Camden (31 August) are all playing centre-stage to crime dramas over the next few months. Getting involved is elementary enough: buy a Team Ticket in advance (£36 for up to 6 players) and download the game's app to your smartphone. Turn up between 10am and 1pm on the day, and its interactive map will show you an array of local spots to visit in order to catch the killer.
Logic puzzles and witness testimonies come up on-screen, but you’ll also need to search for signs on the streets around you. For Cluedo veterans, the format will be familiar: narrow down the list of suspects, rule out the possible murder weapons and plump for the correct answer as quickly as you can.
The competitive element – logging your time against those of other teams on the day's leader board – is a draw for many, but only part of the fun. All in all, CluedUpp offers you the chance to get the cogs whirring with friends while discovering hidden novelties in your hometown or getting to know unfamiliar parts of the capital. Under-16s join in for free and don’t count towards the team numbers, although the organisers advise a certain amount of parental discretion – after all, there'll be murders afoot...
